A big, bad, block of granite.

I was asked by a Tibetan Lama to cut a trough out of the biggest block of stone I could find in Bhutan. The only quarry operating in Bhutan is a small white granite quarry, located outside the Wangdue Phodrang valley. I visited the quarry twice to see what was available but there wasn’t much choice and although they were very friendly, their extraction techniques were bordering upon Middle Aged. It took a month to receive the block on site and around 15 men to offload it from the truck.
